About Roland
My name is Chef Roland Feldman. I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. I began my culinary journey at a young age, working in several local restaurants in the Charleston area. I took the step into fine dining with the Southern institution Magnolia’s Restaurant. From there, I traveled to Denver, Colorado, where I attended Johnson and Wales University. There, I spent time with some of the Nation’s top chefs, including Wolfgang Pucks Protègè Chef Jennifer Jasinski, at her flagship Rioja Restaurant.
From there, I returned to Charleston and spent time at Relais & Chateau property Peninsula Grill before founding my food truck, Smoke BBQ, which I grew into two brick-and-mortar locations in the heart of Charleston. I have been featured in the Food Channel, Southern Charm, The Washington Post, The Today Show, Charleston Magazine, SIP Magazine, the Post & Currier, as well as several other National publications.
